Gerdau Metaldom was awarded for Successful Implementation during the 4th edition of the Producción Más Limpia (*Cleaner Production) national contest, led by the Ministry of Environment (MIMARENA) and EcoRed. The award was given under the Energy category, for their Less Electric and Polluting Energy through luminaires.
The award ceremony is conducted every two years, and its purpose is to distinguish the work done by companies, NGOs and entities that carry out a productive or service-based activity, and that prove they used the cleaner production strategy based on energy efficiency and sustainable use of natural resources, reduction and pollution prevention.
The company has participated in all four award ceremonies, winning two special mentions in materials and energy as well as successful implementation under the same category in the previous edition.
Rodrigo Belloc, CEO of Gerdau Metaldom stated: “We are proud to receive this award, where we scored over 90points, showing that we are more committed each day to working under a quality production system, that focuses on environmental sustainability”.
Producción Más Limpia is an award that exhorts all sectors to take actions that meet the SDGs, specifically with SDG #12 on Sustainable Production and Consumption.
The award features four (4) categories that are granted based on the identified management level in each participant, taking as reference all materials, energy, water usage and environmental management systems in all micro, small, medium-sized and large-scale companies, as well as public institutions.
For Nelson Gil, HSE Manager at Gerdau Metaldom “the efficient use of our natural resources is part of our commitment to achieve the comprehensive wellbeing of the company, the community and its surroundings”.
