SAN PEDRO DE MACORÍS. Aiming to protect and oversee the health condition of all workers and their families, the CAEI Consortium began a series of post-harvest medical drives, in which close to 3,000 people are tended to, all of them residents from the 37 bateyes surrounding the company.
Medical services began in the batey Atilano II, of the Angelina, where 325 persons from that community were provided with assistance, and from Atilano I, Pepillo and Cañada del Negro. All beneficiaries were vaccinated against several diseases and all prescribed medication was delivered for free.
This social action is planned and executed by the Health Program for all CAEI Bateyes. The Cane Communities and program director, Dr. Antonio Custodio, indicated that the company keeps close track of all health conditions affecting the field workers, and follows up to all newly-detected conditions, be it at a medical consult office if not a referral center, as a way to help them improve their conditions.
