Gerdau Metaldom wins Producción Más Limpia Award

Gerdau Metaldom received recognition for successful implementation during the 4th edition of the Producción Más Limpia (*Cleaner Production) National Contest, led by the Ministry of Environment and Natural Reosurces and EcoRed. This recognition was given under the Energy category, with their Electric and Polluting Energy Reduction by Luminaires project.

The awards take place every two years; its purpose is to distinguish the work carried out by companies, institutions and NGOs that carry out productive or service-based activities, and that prove they used the cleaner production strategy, based on energy efficiency, and a sustainable use of natural resources, as well pollution prevention and reduction.

The company has participated in all 4 award editions, gaining two special mentions in materials and energy, and in successful implementation under the same category in the previous edition.

Producción Más Limpia is an award that exhorts all sectors to take actions that meet the SDGs, specifically with SDG #12 on Sustainable Production and Consumption.

The award features four (4) categories that are granted based on the identified management level in each participant, taking as reference all materials, energy, water usage and environmental management systems in all micro, small, medium-sized and large-scale companies, as well as public institutions.

 As Nelson Gil.  HSE Manager at Gerdau Metaldom, states:  “the efficient use of our natural resources is part of our commitment to achieve the comprehensive wellbeing of the company, the community and its surroundings”.
