WITH LARIMAR, RD WILL DOUBLE ITS EOLIC CAPACITY

Featuring an investment of USD$120M, the inauguration ceremony headed by President Danilo medina took place for the Larimar Eolic Park by EGEHAINA.

Located in the community of Enriquillo in Barahona, this eolic park features a setup production capacity of 49.5MW, thus achieving for the Dominican Republic to double its eolic capacity by reaching 420,000MW per hour, hence positioning their leadership in the Caribbean with this type of renewable energy generation.

The EGEHAINA CEO, Edgar Pichardo acknowledged during his speech the importance of eolic energy because of its efficiency and environmental benefits.

Inland, EGEHAINA produces 94% of the total eolic energy with its 40 aerial generators in the Los Cocos Eolic Park, plus the 15 new aerial generators recently set up in Larimar. Pichardo added that they will continue developing other projects for clean energy production, through the future expansion of this park with “Larimar 2”.

At the inaugural ceremony attended the INICIA Chairman, Felipe Vicini; the CEO of Haina Investment Company, Rafael Vélez, the president of the Estate Fund of Reformed Enterprises (FONPER), Fernando Rosa; and the GM for EGEHAINA, Marcelo Aicardi.

Aicardi highlighted that altogether the eolic parks of Los Cocos and Larimar will avoid the emission of 300,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide per year and will save the country from an import equal to 700,000 crude oil barrels. The EGEHAINA GM finally thanked the government authorities for having made possible for Larimar to become a reality through their support.

Likewise, also present at the ceremony were Rubén Jiménez Bichara, Exec. VP of the CDEEE; the director of the National Energy Commission (CNE), Juan Rodríguez Nina, and the Electricity Superintendent, Eduardo Quincoces, among others.

EOLIC PARKS WILL SAVE THE COUNTRY 700K BARRELS OF CRUDE OIL

BARAHONA.- With the eolic parks Los Cocos and Larimar -just launched0, the Dominican Republic will save annually on the import of 700,000 crude oil barrels, as was estimated yesterday by the EGEHAINA General Manager, Marcelo Aicardi, during the inauguration ceremony for this new aerial generation park located in the municipality of Enriquillo in Barahona, and which was headed by President Danilo Medina.

Since 2011, with the inauguration and operational performance of Los Cocos, the country has been inserted in the list of countries that act “ green”, for forming part of the sustainable development measures.

During his intervention, Aicardi highlighted also that altogether, both parks will avoid the annual emission into the atmosphere of 300,000 tonnes of CO2 , which to -the best of their knowledge- contributes to national energetic safety.

According to Aicardi, Larimar comes in to double the current eolic energy generation, by reaching 49.5MW. The same features 15 aerial generators of the V112 models with an individual capacity of 3,3MW each, of Danish manufacturer Vestas, with tubular towers, steel-made, of 200 tonnes in weight and 84 meters in heights, a length similar to six bus vehicles parked in row. When each of the 55mts blades, aim to the sky, they reach an elevation of 140mts, equal to a 50-story building, as was explained by the executive to all the attendees, among them the INICIA chairman, Felipe Vicini; the EGEHAINA president, Edgar Pichardo; the Haina Investment Company CEO, Rafael Vélez; and the president of FONPER, Fernando Rosa.

Also present were Antonio Isa Conde, minister of Energy & Mining; Rubén Jiménez Bichara, Exec. VP of the CDEEE; Juan Rodriguez Nina, executive director of the National Energy Commission (CNE), and Eduardo Quincoces, Electricity Superintendent.

The Larimar jets are located on a hill, some 360mts above sea level.

President Medina inaugurates eolic park in Enriquillo, the Larimar eolic park for USD$120M

EL NUEVO DIARIO,ENRIQUILLO, Barahona.- What constitutes a significant contribution to energetic development and the use of renewable energy, President Danilo Medina and EGEHAINA inaugurated the new Larimar eolic park.

The park took in 18 months to build, featuring an investment of USD$120M and 90% Dominican manual labor, concretely 50% were from Enriquillo, Paraíso, Juancho, Oviedo and Pedernales.

The park is composed by 15 aerial generators Vesta V112, each unit featuring a 140mts height and a production capacity of 3.3MW each, for a total setup capacity of 49.5MW.

With the annual production of this eolic park of 200,000MW/hour, the Dominican Republic doubles its wind-based production capacity by reaching 420,000 MW/hour and thus establishes its leadership position in the Caribbean.

In this sense, the CEO of EGEHAINA, Edgar Pichardo, pointed out the commitment assumed by the State towards implementing stimulation mechanisms to expand the usage of renewable energy, making it a pillar to tackle global warming and all problems resulting from climate change.

“There’s no doubt that we are on the right path to progress; five years ago on this day, there was no such things as eolic energy production in the Dominican Republic, and today we feature 60 aerial generators, each of them with a setup capacity of 135MW, which clearly indicates that the D.R wants to commit with the other responsible nations in matters of renewable energy”.

He also indicated that President Medina and his government have reaffirmed the country’s commitment to renewable energy and EGEHAINA, as he explained, he wishes to continue supporting this goal.

MEDINA INAUGURATES NEW EGEHAINA EOLIC PARK

Enriquillo, Barahona.- President Danilo Medina headed yesterday the inauguration of the Larimar Eolic Park, developed by EGEHAINA, featuring an investment of USD$120M. This is a full generation compound for eolic or wind-based energy, and a setup capacity of 49.5MW, composed by 15 aerial generators of the Vesta V112 models, each unit featuring a 140mts height and a production capacity of 3.3MW.

According to all information provided during the ceremony, the annual production for Larimar of 200MW/hour, will help double the Dominican Republic’s capacity for eolic production, by reaching 420MW/hour, thus solidifying its leadership in eolic generation all throughout the Caribbean.

The main speech of the inauguration was given by the EGEHAINA CEO, Edgar Pichardo, whom highlighted that just five years ago, the country did not produce wind-based or eolic energy, and today it features a generation capacity of 135MW, of which EGEHAINA produces 94% with the 40 aerial jets in the Los Cocos Park combined with the 15 units set up in Larimar.

“The inland increase of these energy generation projects is the most efficient mechanism to reduce and mitigate the already-existing emissions as well as future ones”, Pichardo expressed.

On his behalf, the EGEHAINA GM, Marcelo Aicardi, pointed out that the joint efforts between the public and private sectors made possible the environmental benefits resulted from the existing eolic generation in the country. “Altogether the eolic parks of Los Cocos and Larimar will avoid the emissions of 300,000 tonnes of CO2 and will save the country a total fee equal to importing 700,000 crude oil barrels, thus contributing to national energetic safety”, he expressed.

Other similar projects are ready. During the activity, words were also spoken by the Exec. VP of the CDEEE, Mr. Rubén Jiménez Bichara, whom disclosed that the Larimar project is the first of three generation projects for clean energy production foreseen to inaugurate in the next 90 days.

ENRIQUILLO, BARAHONA.- EGEHAINA inaugurates yesterday the Larimar Eolic Park, composed by 15 aerial generators Vesta V112 and an investment of USD$120M. The project was developed featuring 90% Dominican manual labor, concretely 50% were from Enriquillo, Paraíso, Juancho, Oviedo and Pedernales.

At an activity hosted in part of the terrain where the project is located, (adapted for it), featuring the presence of President Danilo Medina and government officials, Marcelo Aicardi, GM for EGEHAINA, stated that the joint performance by the private and public sectors made possible the environmental benefits derived from eolic energy production in the country. Aicardi calculated that altogether Los Cocos, which opened 2 years ago and now Larimar will avoid the emission of 300,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide annually and will save the nation on the import of 700,000 crude oil barrels, hence contributing to national energetic safety”.

The aerial generators have 140mts height and a generation capacity for 3.3MW each, for a total setup capacity of 49.5MW. The development of Larimar took a total 18months. President Danilo Medina inaugurated the Parque Eólico Larimar by EGEHAINA in the municipality of Enriquillo in Barahona, which is composed by 15 aerial generators with a total production capacity of 200,000 megawatts per hour.

The park was developed at a cost of USD$120 million y features aerial generators with capacity for 3.3Megawatts each and a height of 140meters, thus doubling the inland capacity for this type of energy production.

During the inaugural act headed by the President, were also present Mr. Felipe Vicini, Chairman of INICIA; Edgar Pichardo, president of EGEHAINA; Rafael Vélez, CEO of Haina Investment Company; Fernando Rosa, chairman of FONPER; and the ministers of Energy and Mining, as well as the Exec. VP of the CDEEE, Rubén Bichara, among other officials.
