San Pedro de Macorís.  Featuring the participation of 180 soccer players, grouped in 8 teams on occasion, the Nuevo Cayacoa Invitational took place in the new community soccer field.

The tournament, organized and hosted by CAEI, featured the sugar cane farming communities of Nuevo Cayacoa and Contador, in the municipality of San José de los Llanos, as well as the 30 de Marzo, of San Pedro de Macorís. Gatorade, the beverage that hydrated all athletes during the competition, sponsored the activity. The Nuevo Cayacoa team won in the Male Youth Category, while the Contador team won in the Female Youth Category. This latter category was a tight competition in order to establish the winner, it was necessary to define the penalties.

The executive VP for CAEI, Alberto Potes, whom made the inaugural kick, said “this tournament is an exercise of integration and solidarity, which puts the consortium in favor of the residents of the sugar cane farming communities.

“With this type of activity, we wish to extend to all our collaborators that we support them and we are interested in the recreational, cultural, and personal development, with emphasis on children and adolescents”, he expressed.

Potes said the Nuevo Cayacoa, residents can rely on that soccer field as one of the best and greatest recreational spaces in the zone. “We celebrate this lovely soccer field CAEI has built for our general enjoyment”.

Moisés Selman wins elite Mountain Bike category

moises-selman-wins-elite-mountain-bike-categorySANTO DOMINGO.- Rider Moisés Selman, 18yrs, was crowned first place winner of the elite male category during the II Mountain Bike competition in the Los Cocos Wind Park, hosted at the terrains surrounding the energy mainframe, between Pedernales and Barahona.

During the tour organized by EGEHAINA and the Dominican Cycling Federation (FEDOCI), Selman rode all 70Km beating Kelvin Pujols (from Santiago), and Ismael Sánchez (Terra Team), whom reached second and third place respectively.

Champion Rosalba Valerio won first place in the Female Elite category, followed by Gina Figueroa and Jenny Suriel, whom respectively achieved second and third runner-up.

The grand prize in the Youth category was won by Luis Miguel Rodríguez, while Esmelin Santana and Rusbel Pena followed at the podium.

Tito Sanjurjo, GM  for EGEHAINA, expressed his satisfaction with the celebration of this 2nd edition of the Competition, which “EGEHAINA organizes aiming to support the development of sports in the Dominican Republic, in that same way that it contributes towards the eco-tourist development of the promising and valuable southwest region of the D.R.’

SOME 300 MOUNTAIN BIKE RIDERS IN THE LOS COCOS PARK

Santo Domingo

Featuring the participation of more than 300 mountain bikers from all over the country, the II Mountain Bike Competition will be celebrated in the Los Cocos Wind Park, which is scheduled for Saturday May 11th touring the communities of Enriquillo, Juancho and the aerial generators of the Los Cocos Wind Park by EGEHAINA, located between the provinces of Pedernales and Barahona.

The event has been organized by the Dominican Cycling Federation (FEDOCI) and the Mountain Bike Commission alongside EGEHAINA, and is one of the most important in the country due to its organizational quality and the massive participation expected for this 2nd edition.

The participating categories are: Male Individual, Female and Youth, as well as Teams Open A, Open B, Master, Senior and Mixed, including rookie categories for riders from the Juancho, Enriquillo and Los Cocos communities.

Registration is taking place in the Dominican Cycling Federation (FEDOCI) offices, and online on www.fedoci.com till Thursday the 9th 6pm, the registration fee is RD$500.00 and all proceeds will be destined to the El Ciruelito school located in Juancho.
